The Music
The music leadership for the day will be provided by Dakota Road.
They
will lead worship and song and conduct workshops.
One of the workshops they will lead will be with the youngsters in the
LIFT Children's Program.
Dakota Road has
become known nationally for their stirring original music and playful
performance style. They craft powerful stories of life and faith woven in
colorful musical styles ranging from acoustic ballads to rocking anthems.
Their songs of struggle and hope connect with people of all ages and walks
of life.
Dakota Road Music is the creator of many liturgies and songs that are
singable, rooted, relevant and faithful contemporary worship music. They
do hundreds of workshops across the country each year and have
participated at ELCA Youth Gatherings.

The Rev. Dr.
Mark Allan Powell, keynote speaker for LIFT 2009, is an
internationally known theologian and Bible scholar. He is Professor of New
Testament at

subject of "contemporary Christian music." He has published over 1900
reviews of Christian recordings and is the author of a one-thousand-page
encyclopedia that is regarded as the definitive reference work on the
subject.

building men's ministry to centering prayer. There are workshops for middle schoolers and playshops for adults -- and everything in between. If you

Children's Program
Creation
Celebration is the theme of the LIFT 2009 Children’s Program, designed
for children who have completed kindergarten or grades 1, 2,
3, 4, or 5. Led by Elizabeth Elterich, AiM, and Leesa Wimmer, AiM, the
program will be held in Martin Luther Hall Underground (building #25 on
the
Muhlenberg map).
Children in the program will learn a song with Dakota Road that the
children will sing at the closing LIFT worship, doing crafts related to
creation and the Book of Faith, playing games, and meeting new friends.
Children will assemble at 9:15 a.m. in
the Field House and then be escorted to the Underground.
Parents/guardians must pick up their children from the Underground
promptly at noon.
Please note that pre-registration was required.

Old Testament Personalities
As they did at
LIFT 2007, participants at
LIFT 2009 will encounter characters
from the past, this time biblical figures from the Old Testament. (Didn't
you always want to see Ezekiel in real life?)
Learn more about the personalities you will meet at
LIFT.
And More!
There
will be four chapel concerts, including one entitled, Around the World
with the ELW. Be sure to look for Tom Yenser's article in the November
issue of Partners
in the Spirit for more about the chapel concerts.
Workshops,
interactive games on the front lawn of the college, a Walk for World
Hunger around the college periphery, and a program for teens are being
planned.
