 Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod Youth Servant Event
to Our Companion Synod in Argentina/Uruguay
July 2011 (actual dates will be set in January 2011)
The Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod, ELCA, is a companion synod with the
Lutheran Church in Argentina and Uruguay. In
July 2011, a group of youth and three adult chaperones will travel to
Argentina for a 2-week-long service trip.
To attend the event, youth participants must—
- Have completed grade 9-12 at the time of the event
- Be an active member of a congregation of the Northeastern
Pennsylvania Synod
- Be interested in and sensitive to other cultures
- Represent their church and country in a positive way
- Participate in an interview with our Argentina/Uraguay Companion
Synod Committee
- Attend an introductory session with parent(s)/guardian(s) on
October 3, 2010
- Attend all orientation/team-building sessions
- Assume the cost of the trip (approximately $1,500-$1,700 plus spending
money)
- Have a valid passport
To apply—
- Download, print, and complete the
application form found
on the synod website
- Mail form to Pastor Kurt Garbe (Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod,
ELCA, PO Box 803, Conyngham, PA 18219-0803)
- Request a one-page recommendation from your pastor (in case of a
pastoral vacancy, the recommendation may be written by the associate in
ministry (if applicable) or the president of the congregation council)
- Return these materials by Friday, September 3, 2010, to
Pastor Kurt Garbe (see address above)
